Manuela Caiani is an Associate Professor in Political Science at the Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) and associated faculty at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in Vienna. Since 2019 she has also served as the Convenor of the Standing Group ‘Political Participation and Social Movements’ of the Italian Association for Political Science (SISP) as well being the Co-director of the International Observatory on Social Cohesion and Inclusion (OCIS) since 2021. Caiani is affiliated with COSMOS Centre on Social Movement Studies.
Caiani has directed a number of international research projects on topics ranging from: right wing extremism; social movements and Europeanisation; radical right mobilization online; disengagement from terrorism; and populism. She has published in journals including but not limited to: WEP, EJPR, Mobilization, Acta Politica, European Union Politics, South European Society and Politics, and RISP, as well as book publications with Oxford University Press, Ashgate, and Palgrave publishing houses.
